A chance sunset in North East, MD
We drove by St Mary Anne’s Episcopal church on Main Street so many times and almost every time we did I thought to myself “one day I have to come here especially for this!”. Tonight was that evening. I thought the sunset shoot wasn’t happening after the entire day of rainy clouds covering the entire sky above us… and about an hour before sunset time the sun said hello. Well… I had a new backpack for P4 to try out so it was a perfect opportunity to put it to the test. The backpack worked very well and so did this shot. The sun gave me just enough time to get what I wanted and then it went back to hiding behind the rainy clouds. Tomorrow there is a local event taking place at the church grounds – hence all the garlands.
This photo was created from a set of 6 HDR images. Shooting to preserve detail in both the sky and the ground below the horizon level is difficult high contrast situation like this. However, you can bracket exposures and create HDR images to create a high dynamic range final rendition. For a detailed description of my entire workflow please take a look at my Guide to Stunning Aerial Imagery available on this website.
